Artistic abilities

Last week I sat in on a couple impromptu art classes while camping, and I was completely inspired to start doing nightly projects! During the classes I learned the basics of hand lettering and zentangle, two things I never thought I should attempt, and it turns out they are totally doable! Who would have thought?! So, though I am no expert, I feel inspired to share with the world what I am learning and practicing.

Broken down, I believe art is the act of creating what you feel. I am sure others feel the same, but I just want to emphasize the ACT, opposed to the product itself. Zentangle and lettering specifically take so long to create that they become encompassing: your mind and body solely concentrate on the task at hand. That task may be drawing a straight line, but when you concentrate on it the stress and responsibilities that give us so much anxiety just float away on lavender-scented cloud and what remains is a happier version of yourself.

So, if you would like to try and teach yourself zentangle, here is the official website! But, if you are like me and have no confidence in self-teaching, then I suggest taking a class from Andrea at A Work of Heart art studio! Even if you don’t want to take a class and just need a studio to work in, or someone to talk to, Andrea is your girl. She also sells art supplies and has amazing classes for jewelry, watercolor, and acrylic projects – but don’t just take my word for it go check out her website! Hand lettering can also be self-taught or with classes, but for project inspiration my main tool is Pinterest.

And now, I am proud to post my latest projects! I will also be updating this post with more projects as I am inspired to do so, so be sure to check every now and then for some inspiration of your own!

Life is an artistic adventure, so keep exploring it!
